  • Preparing for the long haul on climate change: A one-day roundtable

A few places remain available for this event at Parliament House, Brisbane, on Wednesday 29th August. Keynote speaker for the roundtable is Professor Thomas Homer-Dixon, author of The Upside of Down: Catastrophe, creativity and the renewal of civilisation. He’ll be joined by CPD fellow Ian Dunlop.

The roundtable will develop proposals for climate change leadership initiatives in communities and businesses throughout South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales.

Attendees will include business, community and local government representatives, who will work with senior researchers and policy analysts to explore how businesses and communities can build capacity to deal with climate change on three levels:

  • Mitigation – the steps can we must take to halt global warming
  • Adaptation – what we must do to adapt to changing climate conditions
  • Transformation – how we redesign our economic and social institutions for a post-carbon world
