AFR: “Coalition urged on marine parks”
CPD’s Executive Director Miriam Lyons was interviewed for a short piece by Sophie Morris in the Australian Financial Review, 28 June. The article discusses the Australian Marine Alliance’s appeal to the opposition for “something more substantial and clearer” on the proposed Marine Reserves Network. The Coalition fisheris spokesman Richard Colbeck said that they, “don’t believe you need to lock up huge swaths of ocean.”
The article concludes with a reference to the CPD report Preserving our marine wealth, which was released on 27 June and found that the proposed marine parks will protect $1.2 billion in ecosystem services.
