Next Monday CPD Fellow Fiona Armstrong, who was recently recognised as one of Australia’s 100 most influential women, is facilitating a health sector leadership event and round-table discussion on climate change in Canberra.
This historic meeting brings together a cohort of 40 senior health leaders in Parliament House in a meeting with representatives of the government (Assistant Health Minister, Ken Wyatt), the opposition (the Shadow Health Minister, Catherine King), and the Greens (leader and Health Spokesperson, Richard Di Natale).
Meeting hosts include the Climate and Health Alliance (a coalition of health groups dedicated to affecting climate change policy which Fiona founded and is an Executive Director of), along with member groups Public Health Association of Australia, Australian Healthcare and Hospitals Association, and Australia College of Nursing. Fiona and Myer Innovation Fellow Anna Rose will lead discussions between health sector leaders and prominent Parliamentarians from all sides of politics. This will be an opportunity for health sector leaders to share their unique perspective and their concerns regarding the health impacts of climate change resulting from carbon emissions directly to MPs, while sending a strong message to Australia’s wider health and medical community.
