CPD Fellow counters overblown industry claims with hard facts

Recent claims made about the potential loss of 9700 jobs among recreational and commercial fishers, as a result of the government’s marine park plan, have been exaggerated by lobbyists representing business interests.  Citing data produced by the Australian Bureau of Statistics that reveal that the job and revenue losses predicted by lobbyists are at odds with research findings, CPD Fellow Caroline Hoisington restores an informed approach to the debate over the value of sustainable marine reserves.
