Mark Burford has over thirty years' experience advising governments and businesses in many areas of public policy. He has worked as a senior public servant, adviser to State and Commonwealth Ministers, consultant to State and Commonwealth governments, adviser to a range of businesses and leading universities, and policy think tank leader on a many issues – including water policy and climate change, population policy, housing, health funding, higher and vocational education, school and tertiary education reform, economic policy and public sector management. Mark’s work is consistently at the interface of research, analysis and successful policy. Mark was the inaugural chief executive of the Mitchell Institute for Health and Education Policy and is currently a non-executive Director of Caraniche, a specialist provider of psychological services that works with some of the most marginalised people in our community to help get their lives back on track through alcohol and drug counselling and behaviour change programs.
